Oakland acquired shortstop Elvis Andrus, closer Trevor Rosenthal and DH Mitch Moreland, and there are reasons to believe they’ll play up to or even outperform their predecessors in 2021, Semien, Liam Hendriks and Khris Davis. Of course, this wasn’t a singular deal as much as a series of moves conducted late in the offseason that altered the nucleus of the roster and went a long way to keeping the A’s competitive in the American League West.
The White Sox returned home from their around-the-world series of exhibition games against the New York Giants.
