The Dodgers promoted Andy Pages from Triple-A a little more than a week ago hoping he could inject some life into an outfield that was contributing little offensively (beyond Teoscar Hernandez). “Very impressed with Andy,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.
The Los Angeles Dodgers received home runs from Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages to back a strong performance by Tyler Glasnow in a 10-0 win over the New York Mets that snapped a three-game losing streak. Ohtani's two-run blast in the third inning gave him the MLB record for most home runs by a Japanese-born player, with his 176th passing Hideki Matsui.
With Jason Heyward facing an extended stint on the 10-day injured list and the bottom of the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup collectively scuffling, Andy Pages has received an opportunity that came earlier than expected. Talent has not been the question for Pages, but rather the simple fact that the Dodgers prospect had season-ending left shoulder surgery in 2023. Pages singled in the first at-bat of his MLB debut — a moment that has been commemorated with his first bobblehead — but otherwise hasn't yet provided some of the offensive production seen during Spring Training and to begin the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
