Love Island viewers were all cheering for Luca Bish after he gave Gemma Owen a brutal reality check while discussing their relationship.

Things between the couple have been a bit strained after she enjoyed a flirty chat with her ex-boyfriend Jacques O’Neill and then angered Bish by accidentally calling him by O’Neill’s name.

On Thursday’s episode, the 19-year-old daughter of former footballer Michael Owen claimed to have “seen a different side” to the fishmonger, 23, since they coupled up last week, admitting that she wanted to slow things down.

Taking the tattooed hunk to one side, she said: “You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been a little bit off the last day.

“What initially attracted me to you is that you didn’t give a s**t but I’ve seen a different side to you, which I do like but I don’t want to feel that’s us two married off now and that’s it.”

Bish hit back: “Why are we married off? Because two new boys have come in and not given you any attention?”

Looking shocked, Owen replied: “No it’s got nothing to do with the other boys.”

Viewers were in hysterics over Bish’s handling of the situation and flocked to social media to weigh-in.

“Luca told Gemma exactly what she needed to hear,” wrote one fan on Twitter.

Adding: “Two boys came in and didn’t give her attention and now she’s panicking that her couple is too good. No babe sometimes it’s not all about you.”

“’What because two boys came in and haven’t given you attention” Nah I’m dead. Luca does not hold back. What a guy,” said another.

“The way Luca just shut Gemma down,” said a third, with someone else adding: “OMG Luca actually said that to Gemma.”

Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
