Aug. 24—Mayor Michael Passero will issue a proclamation in honor of the late artist Barkley Hendricks, a longtime resident of the city, on Wednesday, at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum.

The museum is featuring the "Barkley L. Hendricks in New London" exhibition through Sept. 3. The proclamation will be followed by a gallery talk with Susan Hendricks and Lyman Allyn curator Tanya Pohrt. The two will discuss the exhibition and share stories behind the works. Susan Hendricks, who was married to the artist for 34 years and worked at the Lyman Allyn for 17 years, administers his estate and is the managing director of the Barkley L. Hendricks Photography Archive.

The event starts at 5 p.m. and is free. The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is located at 625 Williams St. More information at lymanallyn.org or (860)443-2545.
