The Hull Police Department received a call for a truck stolen from a body shop on Nantasket Avenue at about 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, shortly before a police officer spotted a truck matching the description driving down George Washington Boulevard, the department said in a press release via John Guilfoil Public Relations.

The officer chased the truck until it hit a utility pole on Rockaway Avenue at George Washington Boulevard. Sault, the driver, fled the scene on foot, Plymouth District Attorney Spokeswoman Beth Stone said in a press release.

The passenger in Sault's car, 52-year-old Michael Peters of Hull, was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer chasing the truck has been put on administrative leave, per Hull policy, and has not been identified.

Stone said Sault ran from the scene, and police later received four separate 911 calls reporting a domestic assault and home invasion on Avalon Drive, near where the crash occurred. Police responded and arrested Sault.
