HS SOFTBALL: Minersville shuts out Nativity

Apr. 7—MINERSVILLE — Senior Aramie Arroyo tossed a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in five innings as Minersville sent Nativity to its first setback with a 13-0 triumph in a Schuylkill League Division II game Tuesday.

Senior Nikki Conville had three RBIs for the Battlin' Miners while Kaycee Raczka, Emily Hart and Brooke Kopinetz each had two RBIs for Minersville, which scored six runs in the fourth to force the finish by the 10-run rule. Averee Horoschak hit a solo home run in the second inning, and Arroyo had three hits for the Miners.

Collecting 31 hits in its first three games, Nativity had one baserunner Tuesday. Helena Polinsky hit a fourth-inning single.

Elle Walasavage went 2-for-3 with a triple and the game's only RBI.

Megan Wolfe took the loss despite allowing just four hits and striking out 14.

That single capped a three-run second inning that put the Blue Raiders ahead to stay.

Lexi Thomas added two singles and an RBI for Tamaqua, which has won two straight after an 0-3 start.

Johanna Taylor had an RBI double for North Schuylkill.
