Here's how to check out Old Sacramento's 'Theatre of Lights' for free this holiday season

After a virtual event last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony at the Old Sacramento Waterfront made an in-person comeback Wednesday night. Thousands gathered along Front and K streets for food, entertainment and the opening performance of the "Theatre of Lights" show that features a live dramatization of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas." The nightly performances will continue Thursday through Sunday from Thanksgiving Eve through Christmas Eve, with no show on Thanksgiving. Each night will feature two viewings at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., weather permitting.
