The Texas Rangers activated Nathan Eovaldi from the 15-day injured list to start their World Series rematch against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night, rather than have the right-hander pitch in a rehab game. Eovaldi, an All-Star last season in his Rangers debut, had been out with a right groin strain since departing after 5 1/3 scoreless innings against Washington on May 2. Texas also activated rookie outfielder Wyatt Langford from the 10-day IL after he hadn't played since May 4 because of a right hamstring strain.
