Giants offensive linemen Ereck Flowers and D.J. Fluker injured on second day of mini-camp
The New York Giants entered the second day of a three-day mandatory mini-camp Wednesday short one offensive lineman with the absence of Justin Pugh. By the end of the day, two more linemen went down with injury.

Left tackle Ereck Flowers injured himself during team drills. He was replaced by undrafted free agent Chad Wheeler. Moments after Flowers left the field, D.J. Fluker left the field with an injury to either his shoulder or elbow. Flowers was replaced by Adam Gettis.
Offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan said Flowers was “sore” but he walked with a noticeable limp after practice ended for the day.
Flowers, a 2015 first-round pick, had a 2016 season he would just as soon forget. He spent the entire offseason at the Giants’ training facility working out. He was praised by the coaching staff for putting in so much work in the offseason and looked like he was in great shape. Flowers left the field under his own power.
Fluker signed with the Giants as a free agent after spending his first four NFL seasons with the then-San Diego Chargers. His injury appears to be more serious than Flowers’. Fluker appeared to be in significant pain as he left the field. He walked off under his own power but did not move his arm while exiting the field.
The Giants’ offensive line is one of the team’s biggest question marks entering mini-camp. The injuries to Flowers and Fluker (as well as Pugh, who hasn’t participated with an undisclosed injury) leave the Giants thin at a position they didn’t adequately address in the draft or free agency.
If these injuries linger or are more serious than the team is letting on, it could expose the deficiencies that weren’t previously addressed.
