The First Trailer ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Season 2 Makes Us Wish We Can Go to Essex College

*SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 OF THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS BELOW!*

The ladies of Essex College know exactly what they want, and that’s another season of The Sex Lives of College Girls. The fun new HBO comedy by Mindy Kaling is exactly what we’ve needed in these very strange times, because at least we can live vicariously through the lives of Kimberly, Bela, Leighton, and Whitney. Now that the series is over, we can get excited that we’ll be back for another semester with our favorite quad squad.

Here’s everything we know about The Sex Lives of College Girls season 2.

Has The Sex Lives of College Girls been renewed yet?

You’re going to want to sit down for this (but don’t ruin your spray tan): HBO Max just renewed Sex Lives of College Girls for a second season!

In fact, season 2 table reads have already started as well! Mindy posted a few pics of the moment on her Instagram grid, writing in the caption, “Back at Essex College with these baddies. @thesexlivesofcollegegirls season 2 table read time!” It literally cannot come fast enough, ugh!

What will season 2 be about?

Here’s where we left off with our favorite freshmen. Kimberly stole the tests from Theta to be able to use as leverage in her academic hearing, and it worked. She didn’t get expelled, but her scholarship did get revoked, which will make it REALLY hard for her to continue at Essex. Leighton and her girlfriend Alicia broke up, and Leighton came out to Kimberly. Bela quit the Catullan and she and the other female writers are starting their own comedy situation. And finally, Whitney told her mom about her affair with her coach. That’s a lot!! So there’s plenty to keep working with next season.

Who will be coming back to season 2?

With so many things going down at Essex right now, it’s a little tough to tell if everyone will be back next semester. But we’re crossing our fingers that Kimberly, Bela, Leighton, and Whitney will all return for another round of fun parties and some major drama.

One person who won’t be returning? Gavin Leatherwood. The actor confirmed to Us Weekly that he departed the series after the season 1 finale.

“It was such an incredible experience. I think Mindy is brilliant and the cast, everyone’s lovely,” he said. “But with so many amazing opportunities out there, we want to keep spreading our wings and leading ourselves to other projects, so that’s the move.”

Is there a release date?

Yes, the show and the new semester will officially start on November 17, 2022!
