College golf: St. Scholastica ousted from NCAA tournament

May 14—The St. Scholastica women's golf team failed to make the cut at the NCAA Division III championship meet after the third round Thursday at the par 72 Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan. The Saints finished 23rd out of 25 teams.

Olivia Wright led the Saints with a 263 (47 over par) over three rounds to finish tied for 97th out of 130 golfers. The Saints as a team combined for 1,088 (+224).

The cut for teams on Thursday was 994 (+130). Carnegie Mellon at 925 (+61) had a four-stroke lead over Methodist University going into the fourth round.

Competing in the Division III men's tournament in Wheeling, West Virginia, Wisconsin-Superior was eliminated on Wednesday after failing to make the cut, finishing 28th out of 37 teams at 640 (+76).
