Cardinals RB Johnson is game-time decision vs. Saints

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson is a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday.

Johnson is battling an ankle injury and missed the entire week of practices. He is listed as questionable and Kingsbury wants to give him a little more time to see if the ankle improves.

"He's a tough guy," Kingsbury said. "We're hopeful, but we'll see how he feels on Sunday."

If Johnson can't play, second-year back Chase Edmonds will be the primary ball carrier. Edmonds had a career-best game by rushing for 126 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries in last Sunday's win over the New York Giants.

Johnson has rushed for 300 yards and two touchdowns, and caught 30 passes for 315 yards and three scores.

Arizona also ruled out backup running back D.J. Foster due to a hamstring injury.

Earlier this week, the Cardinals signed veteran backs Alfred Morris and Zach Zenner to provide depth.

"Both guys have impressed," Kingsbury said. "Both guys have played in this league ... smart, hardworking and they'll know the system and be able to slide in there and be effective."

Defensive end Zach Allen (neck) also was ruled out.

Receiver Christian Kirk (ankle) is among the players listed as questionable. The others include four linebackers -- Jordan Hicks (calf), Dennis Gardeck (ankle), Haason Reddick (knee) and Ezekiel Turner (hamstring).
