How the Buffalo Bills can make the turn and be successful in 2017

For many fans of the Buffalo Bills, every year brings new hope of a better year than last. However, with the many changes, this year feels a bit more clamorous than most we are used too.

New coaches, new management, still under a fairly new owner, yet things are coming together. A quarterback in Tyrod Taylor that is backed by the new regime, and has the support of the team and fans unlike many years prior.

Our beloved top pick a few years back Sammy Watkins appears to be healthy and on the fringes of a massive breakout year to silence his critics. Our aging star running back is coming off one of his best years ever and looks poised to duplicate the presence he brings on each and every play.

Buffalo’s defense looks refreshed and new faces bring high expectations for the much needed improvements that can help this team take the perspective step forward. Highly touted second year rookie Reggie Ragland looks to bring something more than your standard second round pick.

With a year off due to injury, his experience learning will pay dividends with his expected starting spot to cover the middle of our line backing core. A much faster and improved looking secondary looks to make the most of the talent that was signed or drafted this off season. Third year corner Ronald Darby will be the key in leading this secondary in shutting down big threat receivers.

Many of the expectations, can be easily consumed, when and if this team takes to their leader in first year head coach Sean McDermott. Coming from a talented and successful defensive team, the Bills coach looks to make his defensive the main backbone of this team.

With some of the toughest competition coming from within the division, Buffalo will need to put pressure on the quarterbacks and force turnovers something, that has been inconsistent with this team. With a vulnerable offense the Bills defense is the cornerstone to making this progress.

BILLS NEWS: Three young Bills to watch during the preseason

The offensive core of Taylor, McCoy, and Watkins will need to avoid injuries as the talent off the bench in not nearly up to par like these three are. Young rookie Zay Jones looks to fill the voids that are left with Sammy taking majority of the focus from opposing secondaries. Jones impressive receptions records to go along with the awe-inspiring talent is something the Bills are looking to capitalize off of landing him in the second round of this years draft.

Many would think this set of skill set would land you a spot in the first round, however gems are always harder to spot than not. Jones speed and size will be very compatible with what we will see from Watkins play. This duo could make for a lasting terror for many years to come.

The key will be on the development of Tyrod Taylor, who was once thought to be surely replaced after his horrible stretch to end last year. Taylor has the skills that can bring this team to fruition. He has the speed to scramble in incomparable situations, and the arm to allow his receivers to get over the top.

His improvement in the short to middle passing game will need to be maximized to get those crucial third downs and much needed red zone touchdowns that ultimately lead to victories. Expect much more from him as he will be the crucial component this team will need to get going offensively in 2017-18.
