The tasty shawarmas and other Middle Eastern favorites from Bucharest Grill are now available in Southfield.

Bucharest's latest location, its sixth, opened early this month at 29508 Northwestern Hwy. Like other Bucharest Grills, the Southfield location offers dine-in or carryout. There is seating inside for about 50 at the Southfield location.

Owner Bogdan Tarasov started Bucharest Grill more than a decade ago in downtown Detroit. Its menu has a variety of items ranging from Bucharest's popular shawarma sandwiches to salads and sides of creamy hummus and garlic sauce.

Bucharest Grill's shawarmas include those made with chicken breast, beef, lamb, falafel and a vegetarian option. The shawarmas include tomato, lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise and garlic spread all wrapped in a pita. Its shawaramas, according to the online menu, are $8.50 each and $9.50 for beef or lamb. There also is a catering menu.

According to its website, a Bucharest Grill is coming soon to a location in Grosse Pointe. Tarasov said the Grosse Pointe location will be smaller with about 25 seats and similar to Bucharest's former Corktown location on Michigan Avenue.
