Boys Tennis: Litchfield opens the season with a win over New Prague

Apr. 14—HUTCHINSON — The Litchfield boys tennis team moved indoors for its season-opening match Tuesday because of the cold and snow flurries.

It certainly didn't hurt the Dragons' performance.

Litchfield beat New Prague 7-0 on the indoor courts at the McLeod County Fairgrounds.

The Dragons' closest victory came at No. 3 doubles. Junior Brady Cannon and sophomore Tyler Pennertz beat New Prague's Jeff Bisek and Trace Mayer 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Litchfield's No. 1 doubles team of seniors Tyson Michels and Max Caesar won 6-0, 6-0. Alex Draeger, the Dragons' No. 1 singles player, beat Jonathan Sayler 6-2, 6-0.

Litchfield's next game is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic in Victoria.
