2017 NBA schedule release: Warriors take on Rockets, Chris Paul opening night

The Rockets and newly acquired Chris Paul will travel to Golden State to take on the Warriors on opening night Oct. 17. Golden State will be defending their second NBA title in the last three years while the Rockets will intoduce a Chris Paul/James Harden backcourt for the first time in regular season action.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers will also open their season Oct. 17, hosting the Celtics.

Other notables from opening week in the partial schedule released Thursday evening by the NBA:


  • Oct. 18: 76ers at Wizards, T-Wolves at Spurs

  • Oct. 19: Knicks at Thunder, Clippers at Lakers

  • Oct. 20: Cavaliers at Bucks, Warriors at Pelicans


Christmas Day will feature the game almost everyone expected to see on that day; the Cavaliers will travel to Golden State to take on the Warriors in a rematch of the last three NBA Finals.
