The first meeting between the two clubs took place during their scheduled fixture on April 14, but play was suspended in the 72nd minute after Roma defender Evan Ndicka collapsed on the pitch. The tie was abandoned 10 minutes after the player was carried off 'conscious' on a stretcher before he was rushed to hospital, where Ndicka was later diagnosed with a collapsed lung.
