April Ross Biography

Ross will make her Olympic debut with partner Jennifer Kessy as the duo finished as the second highest-ranked American squad in the 24-team field for London and ranked fourth in the world. The pair, which finished behind Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs in trying to qualify for Beijing, have eight overall titles since their partnership began in 2007, with the most recent one in Norway in 2011. Ross and Kessy did get their first podium finish in June in Rome, placing third to secure their spot in London and reaching the quarterfinals in five straight Grand Slam events this year. The duo also pushed defending two-time defending Olympic gold medalists Misty-May Treanor and Kerri Walsh to three sets in the quarterfinals in Switzerland in July. Despite being the “other” American duo behind the more popular May-Treanor and Walsh, Ross and Kessy have proven to be tough outs at the world level and reached the semifinals in 17 of 20 FIVB events from 2008-10. Ross was a four-time All-American at USC and led the Women of Troy to the 2003 NCAA Championship.
