The Phoenix Coyotes signed defenseman Shaun Heshka to a one-year contract Friday. Financial terms were not disclosed. The 24-year-old Heshka was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for the Coyotes' seventh-round draft choice (187th overall) in last month's NHL draft. Heshka had three goals and 23 assists in 77 games last season with Manitoba of the American Hockey League. ...More |

The Coyotes got the players they targeted in the first two rounds of the draft in defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson and right wing Chris Brown. They look to be two integral parts of the puzzle in the team's future plans.
"I was pleased with the way the draft weekend evolved for us," said general manager Don Maloney.
The Coyotes also drafted goaltender Michael Lee; right wing Jordon Szwarz and defenseman Justin Weller (fourth), and left wing Evan Bloodoff (sixth).
