The 2024 NHL Playoffs are officially underway, and the Boston Bruins are up 2-1 in their first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. After a close Game 3, the teams have an extra day of rest before Game 4 in Toronto on Saturday, April 27. In fact, Game 3 saw a combined 133 hits, five off the record for most in a playoff game.
On the first, David Pastrnak won the puck while being caved in along the boards to goalie Ilya Samsonov's left, getting it to Brad Marchand, who landed a shot on net before Jake DeBrusk buried the rebound for the Bruins' first lead. Moments after the Maple Leafs tied it at 2, Trent Frederic and Danton Heinen won clashes behind the Toronto net. Heinen fed Marchand, who sniped the winner.
The NHL Playoffs may be played on the ice, but teams aren't just trying to score more goals than their opponents, they're also trying to get into their heads. Other times, psychological warfare happens in the media where players try to steal the show with the quote of the day, think Patrick Roy after being provoked by Jeremy Roenick.
