The Toronto Maple Leafs shook up their struggling club, acquiring former all-star defenseman Phaneuf from the Flames in a seven-player deal. The Leafs also acquired six-foot-six defenseman Keith Aulie(notes) and winger Fredrik Sjostrom(notes). In exchange, Toronto gave up defenseman Ian White(notes) and forwards Matt Stajan(notes), Nick Hagman and Jamal Mayers(notes).
