Nov 6 D Bryan McCabe was honored before Florida's game Friday night aganst the Capitals for playing in his 1,000th NHL game. "It's an amazing accomplishment," said coach Pete DeBoer, who coached against McCabe in the Memorial Cup."To stay healthy, to be in the best league in the world for that long and to still be playing at the level he is 1,000 games in is an incredible feat. It's definitely worth the recognition he's going to get from us and our fans on Friday night." McCabe received a crystal puck and a silver stick from the league for his accomplishment. The Panthers chipped in to give the McCabes a bottle of wine from 1995 (to commemorate his rookie season), a pair of his-and-hers Rolex watches and a weekend at a posh Palm Beach resort. "I'm very fortunate to have lasted this long," McCabe said, "and be able to still be competing every night." McCabe becomes the seventh player to reach their 1,000th game while with the Panthers, joining Lyle Odelein, Greg Adams, Kirk Muller, Mike Foligno, Scott Mellanby and Chris Gratton. McCabe also becomes the 247th player to have played in at least 1,000 games. Yahoo! Sports
