By simply having fun, Washington showed what it has to offer in 2024
When Carson Bruener nailed a field goal from beyond 40 yards, head coach Jedd Fisch learned something new about his senior linebacker. Senior safety Kamren Fabiculanan, however, was far from surprised. As the Spring Game came to a close for the Washington football team — finished off by a last-second field goal by junior kicker Grady Gross to give Team Purple a 24-23 victory — Bruener's hidden talents served as an important reminder that, sometimes, it's ok to simply have fun. Fisch has spent the last four months meticulously building his program on Montlake; Friday, he was able to take a step back and let his players loose.

The Commanders got their quarterback, but it's fair to wonder if they took the right guy here. Jayden Daniels blossomed in his fifth and final year of college football, taking home the Heisman Trophy in a dazzling season for LSU. Daniels is on the older side and doesn't have elite physical tools as a passer, but is going to be an immediate asset in the run game. Drake Maye feels like a better pick, but time will tell. Regardless, the Commanders desperately needed a quarterback and they got one.

Love this pick for the Commanders. Newton has had some struggles with a foot injury over the past few months, but he’s as talented as they come for interior pressure players. He’s got a wide repertoire of pass-rush moves and if his foot is good to go, he and Jonathan Allen will wreck heads for Dan Quinn’s defense.

Shout out to the 2024 All-Juice Team! The Commanders grabbed a stud prospect to play in the slot for them. Sainristil is a competitive force who's not afraid to come downhill and hit people in the mouth. He’s got pretty solid chops in man coverage too. Nice pickup.
