Chargers News: Pundits Don't Think Much of LA in First Power Rankings Post-Draft Should the Bolts be ranked higher here? Author: Matt Levine May 03, 2024 In this story: Power Rankings Chargers LA Draft The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the more interesting teams across the NFL, especially post-NFL draft. Los Angeles loaded on with talent in the draft and now they have addressed some of their biggest needs. However, those around the league still don't see the Bolts are a true contender heading into the new year. In the first post NFL draft power rankings, the Bolts may be a little low in comparison to where they truly are. Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has them ranked at No. 21 in the rankings.

It's not the sexy pick, but it's a pick thats going to make the Chargers better immediately and in the long term. Even though they needed wide receiver help, they also needed help at tackle and got a 10-year, Pro Bowl level starter in Joe Alt.

Expert Commentary
The Chargers desperately needed a wide receiver and traded up to get the speedy playmaker from Georgia. He was a force for the Dawgs from Day 1 and a fantastic route runner for an offense that featured several NFL players. It’s an unproven wide receiver room for the Chargers, but McConkey and Quentin Johnston have some promise at least.

The Chargers really needed a linebacker in the draft and Jim Harbaugh went back to Michigan to find one. Colson is one of the better linebacker prospects in the draft and his athleticism should help him make plays early for the Chargers.
