Panthers reportedly plan to hire former PFF writer in analytics role
According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the team is reportedly planning to hire SumerSports vice president Eric Eager in an analytics role. Eager previously wrote and consulted for Pro Football Focus, the popular football analytics site. Not exactly your traditional old-school hire, Eager is set to come into the front office with a rather intriguing background.

This is a fine pick for the Panthers. They probably didn’t need to trade up, but moving up one spot to secure your guy isn’t the worst move in the world. They also needed to add a bigger player to their wide receiver room. This is solid pickup for the Panthers who really needed juice on offense.

Expert Commentary
The process here for the Panthers is a bit strange. Brooks is a quality running back prospect, but trading up for a player who will still be getting up to full strength as a rookie is a bit odd. Of course, if Brooks is back to pre-injury form, then this is moot. It just seems awfully risky from a pick allocation sense.
