NFL - Sports Rumors

“TomOakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable supposedly clocked one of his assistants in the jaw (and broke it) this past summer and it's now becoming clear that he's done this kind of thing a few times before, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

An ex-wife and an ex-girlfriend are saying he assaulted them numerous times when they were with him. The Napa district attorney decided to not charge Cable with assault in the punching incident with the assistant, Randy Hanson.

Cable's former wife says he hit her in the jaw back in 1988 and she promptly got a restraining order and a divorce. His former girlfriend, Marie Lutz, says he assaulted her only last January.
Cable says that he did hit his former wife, but it was an open-handed slap.

So that must make it OK.

You'd think with a two game losing streak and a 2-6 record, Cable would be hitting himself instead of other people.

Lol Tyson and Glen. Really though, it seems like since no one is talking, they are deciding to make him look bad. His wife from 88 or his girlfriend wasnt there so what in the hell do they have to do with the situation? Let's stick to the script, this isnt about his relationship with women, this is about an altercation that was handle by the code of football. What goes on with the football team, stays with the football team. This is loyalty at its highest among coaches, handling their problems internally, assistant got out of line tempers flared and he got his ass knocked out. Next time do what coach asks you to do or just quit.

Enough "piling on" already. Feel how you may about the Raiders, but keep in mind you have most likely ONLY been fed an abbreviated version of events.
We all have a past - give the guy a break.

@dgr - In the immortal words of Jim Mora, Sr., "Playoffs? You wanna talk about playoffs?"
Common now, the last time the Raiders were even remotely good there was a guy named Rich Gannon at the helm.

Just like a white man. Hits someone who isn't expecting it and isn't in a position to fight back. White people have been doing this for centuries. It's not like it's anything new.
*Chuckles* Or something like that. Of course, everyone will think the above comment is ridiculous, and it is...just as ridiculous as every time I see someone extrapolating something about all black people because Terrell Owens is an idiot. *Snorts* As for the Raiders, is anyone really paying attention to them anymore? Their Commitment to Excellence has become a Commitment to Insanity thanks to Al Davis.
Also, "we all have a past" is not sufficient reason to lay off. Many of us have paid the price for ours. If I slapped my wife and it was reported to the police, I'd have to report it to my workplace or risk losing my job, and they'd have the right to fire me. Cable makes substantially more money than me. He doesn't get off the hook for domestic violence because it's a private matter. Frankly, people should be at least as outraged by this as they were by Michael Vick. They won't be, and that's one of the horrors of domestic violence. It's "funny." Worse yet, it's "not news," because it's "private." Committing a felony by striking another human being is not private and SHOULD be news, particularly when that person has already been accused of a previous felony. It should be a criminal case...but when you're in a relationship with the person, that must make it ok to remain quiet.

What calls it into question is the fact that it happened 21 years ago. Not months, not days, not hours, she didn't report it to the policec back then. It is only news now because ESPN choose to dig something up. The assult on the ex-girl friend wasn't even a hit but a squeeze on the arm as she was shoved out the door.
This blog is like a girl spreading gossip. It is only given the facts that make Cable look the worse.
One more note; What kind of sissy is Hanson? Cable's ex-wife can take a hit from Cable, but he can't.

When a women is killed by her husband while cheating on him, the chargers are reduced to manslaughter. He could have done an OJ but he chose to backhand her. Cable is a hero for not going Randy Hanson on her ass.

You can tell by the way he speaks and his mannerism that he is a very aggressive person. He does have a temper and probably did smack the women in his life around a bit. There are documents that prove he did. If you get hit more than once by your husband or lover it's your fault for sticking around. Nobody hits someone they truely love and care about unless they have a problem. I believe Cable does have a problem controlling his temper. He did treat Hanson badly since he became head coach and his injuries was a direct result of Cable's actions. In Law, it's not what happened that matters, it's what you can prove.

But this is just he said she said. Incredible!!!!. we assume he's guilty. this goes back; how long 20 years? Are you serious? He says she was cheating on him. He doesn't look like a guy who can hold a woman. he looks like that guy at the end of the bar who's been cheated on. But I don't know. Who does after 20 years? It just seems that to spread"rumors" of this nature, after 20 years, seems to me to be unfair. No charges but somehow he guilty of some impropriety. I'd hate for them to go back on me 20 years. I'm sure I would pass muster either. How many of us would? In the last 20 years, are you completely clean?
