Ernie Accorsi has retired from pro football. He served as general manager for the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants. And the Browns want him back. Rumor has it they want him back pretty badly, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Head coach Eric Mangini is supposedly very into the idea of working with Accorsi as well. But if Accorsi doesn't want to give up the chances for (though unlikely reality of) Sunday-afternoon dozes in the Barcalounger to help fix the ailing Browns, the team would at least like to have help make the decision on who the next GM should be.
He was apparently consulted before the team hired the toothless George Kokinis and had nice things to say about the fella who was once the pro personnel director of the Baltimore Ravens.
Still, that wouldn't have been Accorsi's choice for the job. That honor goes to New York Giants director of pro personnel David Gettleman.

Mangidiot knows he's on a short leash now and he'd better do what the (clueless) master wants.

with specific duties but not the GM, no experience. There are some pretty good unemployed head coaches,
hire someone now so by the April draft & preseason the Browns can be a competitive team & score some points.
I rather lose in a shoot-out, 42 - 38 than by 30-6.

Well, it worked out VERY VERY well for the ORIG BROWNS, aka the ravens. 4 years fater leaving that hell of Cleveland, they were champs. And For Bill...he coached the pats to how many SBs? Including the one RIGHT after the ravens. Move this team, that town doesn't have a clue how to do sports. Even the Cavs choke for Christ's sake!
