You can blame Williams, but the Niners were out coached. You can't have a return man any where near a bouncing ball he's not going to pick up. Then you send the same guy out there again and he's not coached well enough to tuck the ball away before he heads up field. Coughlin > Harbaugh.

Still makes me suck to even look at Williams. The 49ers Vince Lombadry trophy is sitting undeserved somewhere in New York. Enjoy the gift while it lasts Giants, the SB is coming back to SF next season where it belongs.

Brian, were the 5 turnovers the Saints committed on the game SF barely won "flukes" or the great skill of the dreaded SF defense? Just curious.

The game was great and great to watch but we lost becus of special teams. both defense were doing good so it came down to the special teams n the 49ers lost that battle becuz of number 10.
I do know 49ers would of won if it wasnt for him but we didnt n i would like to say good game gaints.
i rather have to gaints win so the 49ers lost to the super bowl winners.
    i am a 49ers.
im going for the gaints in the super bowl

micheal the giants won that game it was not gift wrapped for them .here are some facts 1- 49rs fumbled and the giants capatalizrd on them but that what happen in football games 2 49rs were 1-13 on 3rd down conversion 2-giants ran 90 plays to 49rs 57 plays 3- the giants won the time of possesion.4- 49rs had several chances to have int. but they could not hold on. so the giants were not dominated by the 49rs and eli is no sissy eli took everything the 49rs hit him with and kept getting up every time u just wished u had a qb that tough instead of alex smith

Once and for all the giants did not win the game we gift wrapped two fumbles for them so they could actually get in position to score. We dominated the game and hit sissy boy eli numerous times. He is so overrated and the giants will get killed by the pats!

this giant fan is of course elated that we won - considering we were 7-7 at one point in the season - but i do have lots of respect for the 9ers as they are a very strong team. we werent 'lucky' to have won the game, we won it on our ability, because the fumble in OT is part of the game, any game, and the giants still had to convert the FG.

it is amazing what harbaugh - i don like him but respect him as a coach - did with that team and especially how he and the coaches got so much of an improvement out of smith. that 4th qtr vs the saints by him was incredible.

and now we face the pats, another tough team to have to beat, but we're playing well and do have a chance. moreover, considering we were almost out of the playoffs with 2 games to go and have now won 5 against some very good teams, no matter what happens it was a very successful year ------ and never forger all of the injuries we had at the beginning of the year and with some guys they were out for the whole year. we might be one of the faves to win it all next year. go giants, i am quite proud of you!

Just goes to show you what a difference the coaching makes. Harbaugh will be good with seasoning, and this will learn well. He will regret his not being graceful in defeat with Coughlin the master. What does that show our kids? You guessed it, no respect. How does that help anything? Look in the mirror SF, Its not looking good.

Jdub (a rare intelligent 49ers fan) raises some nice salient points to takeaway from this game. To call it bad luck like most of these fans are doing is just ignorant.
So- why the pose & get penalized? why did they stop running when they had some success doing it? Why the reckless defense in the secondary? Why not protect the football on punt returns in the rain? Desperation- they got desperate when the Giants didnt lay down, and they pressed. Guys felt like they had to make a big play instead of just doing the job. Harbaugh & friends had some misguided strategy that backfired on the rainy day., when it was all about ball control.
The coaching left much to be desired, but he is a rook so understandable to some degree. The defense tried their best to carry them but it wasnt enough, and Eli made sure of that. The D was outstanding, the job they did was consistent with being the #1 defense in the league. My hats off to the team, but most of the fans are the biggest blowhards on yahoo.

hey fasteddie322 the giants won that game here are 3 facts that u seem to purposely have forgotten 1- 49rs were 1-13 on third down conversion 2- 49rs only ran 57 plays to the giants90 3- giants won the time of possesion and they capatalized on the 49rs fumble but that is football but u could keep up this false logic that the giants did not win the 49rs lost it. but i have three word 4 u THE GIANTS WON

The Niner Fans have next year to look forward to and I cannot see them losing that weak division with 3 rebuilding teams in it..but getting to a Super Bowl is half skill and half luck when your playing very good teams.."on any given sunday"...The question that 49er fans must ask is can they win the big-one with Alex Smith at QB? SF can always add a deep threat on offense, but you have to make the players-wr's around you better and that is what Eli Manning does..he makes his WR's better...Alex Smith is a liabiliy and is counted on by his ability not to make the mistakes or take big chances down field..the RED zone was a huge issue for the 49ers as well all year...it seems like they was always lining up for a FG...give the Giants their due..they went on the road and played in rainy/windy conditions that you know would hurt there offensive production due to the fact that they were not going to run on SF, also count the SF defense....give them credit for overcoming these challenges..if the game was played in a Dome or sunny weather, the Giants would of scored even more through the air...

I will be one of the rare Niners fans that say the Giants deserved to win that game. The Niners, in that game, made too many mental errors. They made errors when they were even doing well on offense. Look at what Vernon Davis did after scoring the first TD. Why did he have to stand on the podium just because it was there? That was a mental error that led to bad field position for the Niners defense. I don't know if it led to points or not, but bad anyways. The OC also did not go to the Niners strength when they needed it in the 4th quarter. (Running the ball) The secondary made too many mental errors that could have led to picks, instead the SS and CBs just ran into each other, so the fault doesn't go on Kyle Williams at all because the game shouldn't have come down to him having a chance to make that mistake. However, I do agree, the Giants didn't earn the win as much as the Niners lost it, however that doesn't take away from the fact that the Giants deserved to win, because in a weird way, they made the Niners a nervous team that contributed to those mental errors. I do have to root for the Patriots this year just because. I hope the Niners are even better next year.
