Mario Williams: News and Notes
- Jun 10 Williams does not have a position in new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's scheme, the Bills' official site reports. When asked about the predicament, he said, "If I was going to be labeled I'd probably be labeled defensive end because of my size. But I don"t have a position."
Recommendation: Williams is not discouraged by the development, though, as the Bills' defense is expected to include a significant amount of blitzing. His overall versatility will certainly come into play, but he'll more than likely act as a defensive end on most snaps during the upcoming campaign. In any case, he is looking to build upon his final nine games of last season, a span in which he racked up 30 tackles, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles.
