WR Donald Driver is assured of missing the start of the voluntary OTAs because he has advanced to the finals of the reality TV program "Dancing with the Stars."
Driver and professional dance partner Peta Murgatroyd will compete in the final performance show May 21 on ABC. The champion will be announced the next night.
McCarthy, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, linebacker Clay Matthews, receivers coach Edgar Bennett and player development director Rob Davis sat in the studio audience to support Driver on the show May 14.
"A lot of clapping, a lot of standing up and clapping," McCarthy told SiriusXM NFL Radio about the experience in a live setting. "It was fun, though. It was very entertaining. ABC does a great job. I enjoyed it."
Amid speculation the Packers may release Driver, 37, before next season, fellow receiver Jordy Nelson gave his two cents.
"I think he's important (to have on the team)," Nelson said at the start of the Packers Tailgate Tour through Wisconsin on May 15. "We want to keep everyone here."
