Hasselbeck (rib) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Detroit, the Seattle Times reports. Recommendation: Hasselbeck could have a field day against a Lions defense that has been shredded by opposing quarterbacks week after week. He's been good at beating up on weaker secondaries this season and should continue the trend on Sunday. |

QB Matt Hasselbeck, who suffered a rib injury against San Francisco on Sept. 20 that forced him to miss two games, said he's getting closer to 100 percent healthy. Hasselbeck was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday as more of a precaution, but was a full participant on Thursday and said he feels fine for Sunday's game. Hasselbeck also said the healing process for his rib injury has been slowed by coming back from the injury early, but that he is getting better each week, and hopes to be fully healthy sooner rather than later.
"One of the things when you come back early from an injury when you really shouldn't probably, you add on some healing time," he said. "You probably add on, create some other nagging things. I think that's probably the case. But I hope that I can get there."
Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp doesn't expect Hasselbeck's preparation for Sunday's game against Detroit to be affected by missing practice Wednesday. "Last week he didn't practice on Wednesday and had a pretty good game, in my opinion, considering the pass rush we had coming at us and what he did efficiency-wise," said Knapp. "Of course as a coach you want him to get as many reps as possible, but in some ways this is good to help the development of Mike Teel doing scout team and Seneca (Wallace) getting plays with our game plan in case he's needed on Sunday. Because of his experience, it's not as big a concern that it's just Wednesday. As long as he's back Thursday and Friday, I'm OK." |

Hasselbeck watched most of Wednesday's practice to rest his broken ribs, though the Seahawks expect the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback to start again Sunday against Detroit. Seattle coach Jim Mora said Hasselbeck "was a little bit beat up, like what happens to a lot of quarterbacks in this league" after playing all of last weekend's 38-17 loss at Dallas. Advice: He was crumpled on the turf after a hit in the third quarter but finished the game. Seneca Wallace ran the first-team offense Wednesday. Wallace lost both games he started when Hasselbeck was out from the ribs broken Sept. 20 at San Francisco. Doctors had estimated this to be the final week in the usual recovery time for Hasselbeck's injury, but that's under normal circumstances. |
