Several sources reported that the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to deals with four of their draftees on Wednesday. That means five of the Vikings’ eight draft picks have either agreed to terms or have signed a contract with the team. Those who have yet to agree to a deal are in the midst of negotiations and are expected to sign with the team by Thursday.

Last year the Vikings made it a priority to have all their draft picks signed before the start of rookie minicamp. That looks to be the plan again this year as the Vikings are planning on having an agreement in place with each draft selection by Thursday – rookie minicamp runs Friday through Sunday.

Earlier this week, on Monday, wide receiver Moritz Boehringer made it official and signed a four-year contract worth $2.49 million with an included $150,420 signing bonus. Boehringer couldn’t be more excited to be with the Vikings and has been working out in Minnesota since the beginning of the week.

On Wednesday the Vikings came to contract agreements with four draft selections, all of whom are expected to sign on Thursday.

Cornerback, Mackensie Alexander agreed to a four-year deal with the Vikings valued at $4.3 million and includes a $1.34 million signing bonus. He is expected to compete with Captain Munnerlyn for the nickel corner position.

The Vikings newest tight end, David Morgan, reached a deal for $2.47 million over four years with a signing bonus of $135,456. Thought be the best blocking tight end in the draft, Morgan is an underrated pass catcher with sleeper potential.

Stephen Weatherly, the outside linebacker with loads of talent from Vanderbilt, came to a four-year, $2.42 million contract arrangement with a signing bonus worth $81,288. Despite being taken in the seventh round, he figures to be an impact player for head coach Mike Zimmer and the Vikings’ defense.

The Vikings’ last pick in the draft, safety Jayron Kearse, won’t be the last to sign with the team. He also agreed to a four-year deal valued at $2.4 million with a signing bonus of $64,224. “The Freak” looks to play alongside Harrison Smith, but is willing to take on whatever role the Vikings need him for. This steal of the draft is hoping to be a big time contributor on defense for a long time to come.

With the Vikings reaching an agreement or signing five of their eight selected picks, that leaves three players yet to reach an agreement and sign. Both, offensive tackle Willie Beavers and linebacker Kentrell Brothers, are close to finalizing an agreement and signing with the team. It is expected they will be signed by the end of the week.

Of those not signed, is Vikings’ first round pick, wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. A source close to the situation has said negotiations are going well and a deal is expected to be reached by Friday. Right now they are reportedly just discussing the details. Whether or not Treadwell has signed a contract with the team, he is expected to show up and take part in the upcoming rookie minicamp with the rest of the 2016 Vikings’ draft class.

With the simplicity of rookie contracts, no complications are expected to arise.
