Right now, more than ever, many of us are searching to carve out small spaces of light and hope while still keeping up our responsibilities as employees, lovers, family members, and humans in the world. Luckily for that end, the illustrator Emily McDowell is coming out with a book that wrestles with the universal (yet specific) issues of tragedy, empathy, and how to cope when we have no words.

For those unfamiliar with her work, the artist and outspoken cancer survivor, Emily, has previously released a line of greeting cards called Empathy Cards that were written to speak to the space of wordlessness we feel when faced with death or illness.

But now, in January 2017, Emily will be releasing her book “There Is No Good Card For This” and it’s hard to think of a better time for such a book to be released.

How inspiring is this? We love it already!

The book itself is a collaboration between Emily and the empathy expert Dr. Kelsey Crowe, and will combine advice on useful and comforting actions to take during times of tragedy with illustrations and bits of humor.

While we wait for the nuggets of wisdom and comfort to freshly print for our consumption, we can sign up online to pre-order the book. The timing couldn’t be more perfect.
