How Ryan Reynolds Spent His 40th Birthday (It Included Wearing a Bunny Nose!)

Blake Lively knows the way to Ryan Reynolds’s heart! For his 40th birthday, which was Sunday, she threw him a megabash at their favorite NYC restaurant.

The spot — o ya, a Japanese restaurant in Midtown Manhattan — the Gossip Girl alum picked had a lot of history for the pair, who recently welcomed their second child. It was at its sister restaurant in Boston where the pair first became smitten with each other in 2011.

“We fell in love at your restaurant in Boston,” Blake shared on Instagram. “We stay in love at your restaurant in NY. Thank you for the BEST food and memories! You are our FAVORITE!!”

The blonde then added a message to her husband, whom she met on the set of 2011’s Green Lantern , writing, “Another happy birthday with @vancityreynolds . Hey, Reynolds, I like you a whole lot. Just sayin’.”

Blake had the restaurant decorated with balloons (including a 40) and photos from Ryan’s childhood and their relationship, including a picture, which he was holding, of his 35th birthday. In the photo, they were in the same pose, which is all pretty adorkable. In addition, the one-time Preserve guru had a photo booth set up for guests, lots of twinkle lights, and even party hats.

Perhaps our favorite party accessory though were the bunny noses that Blake and Ryan wore for a second photo, which he shared. Those wascally celebs!

“Best. Birthday. Everrrrr. Courtesy of my wife, buddy, and international spy, @blakelively,” the Deadpool star captioned the photo. “With huge thanks to my favorite restaurant in NYC,@_o_ya_.”

He also gave their kids — daughter James, almost 2, and the baby born late last month — a shout out, thanking them “for not ruining everything like they planned.”

Here’s a third photo of the bash: the couple posing with the chefs.

Word first got out that Blake and Ryan were an item in late October 2011, when she was shacked up with him in Boston, where he was filming R.I.P.D. However, by Blake’s timeline, they must have already been “in love” by them.

They quietly tied the knot in September 2012 in a lavish bash in South Carolina.

The lovebirds have been just as secretive about the arrival of their second child, not revealing the name or gender. However, jokester Ryan may have given it away when he recently joked about a crib mobile made of NuvaRings that hangs over his daughter’s crib.
