The Buffalo Bills 2016 NFL Draft has reached its anticipated terminus after Doug Whaley and his team of sleuth hound scouts prepared for months hoping to land the best possible players available. If those best players available chosen just so happen to be positions of great need by the team, then that particular draft can be considered a prosperous one to remember.

Not every general manager is disciplined enough to stick with the “best player available” strategy as much as they preach. Unless you were to see the draft board of that particular team, you will never know how they really came to the decision to draft certain players. Whaley admitted to the press that it was based on need once they hit the third day of this year’s draft.

I can buy that, but I also think some need plays into trading up in the second round to grab a certain defensive player that was rumored to go to your team at the 19th pick and did not because someone you had rated higher somehow was still there in the new “Shaq Attack”, but with much depth in this year’s draft, the Bills landed both the Defensive lineman and the linebacker that they desired and needed.

The Bills did exactly what many experts predicted and suggested by using their first three picks on the struggling defense, target a quarterback in or near round four and finding a wide receiver that can compete along the way. The Bills did just that and many experts and media sources gave the Bills excellent grades on the draft this year. Not every single one, though.

I personally believe the Bills had an outstanding draft as far as quality of prospects acquired and filling glaring needs as well. But I will not argue it with anyone because I do not believe in evaluating an entire draft until a couple years have passed and you can examine each player chosen at that time and see who exactly has met or exceeded expectations as well as who did nothing spectacular.

If Cardale Jones turns out to be the next Tom Brady or Kolby Listenbee develops in to Jerry Rice, we have a total different extremely positive view of the entire draft by The Bills. That being said if Lawson ends up being an Aaron Maybin or an Erik Flowers defensive bust it’s safe to say we should get Negative Stanley on the horn right away to get what we have coming to us.

Speaking of Negative Stanley…. I digress…. Now I know My ABC’s….

V= Veteran Offensive Guard Matt Slauson at 6’5, weighing in at 320 pounds, is scheduled to visit the Bills reports Adam Caplan of ESPN. He has started in the league for many years including three seasons for Rex Ryan in New York.

W= Wonderful describes how I felt when hearing of the news that the Bills aggressively signed Cordy Glenn to a long term contract solidifying that Left Tackle position that can take years to replace if the deal doesn’t happen. Does the name Jason Peters ring a bell who probably will enter the hall of fame after his career with the Eagles specifically because the Bills took a shot at moving the undrafted free agent to that tackle position from Tight End.

Doug Whaley has often said that the best free agent signings are your own free agent players that you want to keep on your team. Is it just me or is Doug Whaley walking around with some swagger that I’m liking these days. He said on to Gilmore when discussing the important signing. I am not an accountant and am struggling to figure out the Bills finding room with the salary cap to entertain other team’s free agents at the same time securing our own. Regardless of what I know….Keep Up the Great Work Doug!!

X= Xanax is truly the only thing that will indeed help me if Tyrod Taylor continues his development as a solid number one NFL Quarterback, leading us to the playoffs or not, pricing himself out of a place of affordability. I understand the franchise tag is available and also realize the lack of success that process has had for our beloved Bills.

Y= Yabba Dabba Doo, Yeah Baby, YES to Sammy Watkins and Richie Incognito for making the cut as numbers 91-100 were announced as far as the top 100 NFL players.

Z= ZZZZ’s is what I am really hoping you were not catching up on during my learning of the ABC’s over the past several weeks. Now I know my ABC’s, next time won’t you……no way that I am going there, Sorry. Scott Bryk for Cover 32; OUT!!
