Ringer leads Michigan St. to 42-10 victory

Javon Ringer rushed for 135 yards and a career-high five touchdowns to lead Michigan State to a 42-10 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Ringer was a workhorse for Michigan State (1-1), especially early. He carried 25 times for 105 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, sparking the Spartans to a 21-7 halftime lead. ...More

Mark Dell's debut as Michigan State's primary receiver was pretty good—nine catches, 202 yards and a touchdown. Yet the only catch Mark Dantonio could think about was his 10th catch, the one pulled off the board in the first half.

"He almost had 10 and that 10th one would have been a nice one," Dantonio said. "He had a good game. Couple he dropped, so still not perfect."

Dell had a touchdown catch in the second quarter overturned by replay and ruled incomplete. It was one of a number of opportunities the Spartans had to put points on the board in the first half, only to come up short. It will be one of the points of emphasis as the Spartans prepare for their home opener Saturday against Eastern Michigan.
