The race for one of the most glamorous jobs in college sports—Hawaii quarterback—was a dead heat at the end of spring ball.
Senior Tyler Graunke, who was the backup last year, and mobile junior Inoke Funaki battled through the spring. Junior-college transfers Brent Rausch and Greg Alexander join the race in the fall.
Funaki was 12-of-18 for 145 yards and two touchdowns with two carries for 45 yards in the spring game. Graunke was 10-of-14 for 180 yards and a touchdown with an interception.
"They are sliced," coach Greg McMackin told the Honolulu Advertiser. "Nobody is ahead."
