'I love this place': St. Louisan Ryan Kalkbrenner recalls emotions leading to Creighton return

Having just finished a workout, Ryan Kalkbrenner peeled himself off a folding chair and walked to the baseline on one of Creighton's practice facility courts. All of it led Kalkbrenner standing there Wednesday, explaining why he put the NBA on hold — again — to return to Creighton for a fifth and final season. “I love this place,” the St. Louis native and Trinity Catholic graduate said. Kalkbrenner planned to go through the process before this year's NBA draft, like he did last summer.
