F Brandon Bass' Game 5 effort was worthy of a look at the history books.
Not only did his 27 points set a personal playoff high and tie his career best, regular season included, but his shooting numbers were impressive beyond his own home.
Bass made 9-of-13 shots from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. The last Celtic to shoot at least 67 percent on field goals and 90 percent on free throws in a postseason game (with at least nine attempts in each category) was Kevin McHale, who made 10-of-14 from the floor and all 13 of his free throws back on May 22, 1988, against the Hawks. That game was known more as the Larry Bird-Dominique Wilkins shootout, even though Bird outscored McHale just 34-33 (Wilkins had 47).

Bass had probably the best game of his career Monday, scoring 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting during the Celtics' win over the 76ers.
Recommendation: Bass also went 9-of-10 from the line, adding six rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 37 minutes of action. It really was a truly remarkable performance, as Boston entered the second half down, yet Bass himself outscored Philly 18-16 during the third quarter to help lead the Celtics to a crucial Game 5 win.
