Arenas, who had just nine points in Friday's win over Miami and was replaced in the fourth quarter by 5-foot-5 Earl Boykins, missed eight of his 11 shots and finished with six points in the Wizards' 92-76 loss to Charlotte on Saturday. Advice: "What do you expect me to do? Go out there and score 30?'' Arenas said. "I take the shots when I think they're suitable for me ... I still have my explosiveness. I'm just trying to figure out when to use it.'' |

Arenas scored only six points on 3-for-11 shooting from the field Saturday night. He added six assists, two boards and lost two turnovers in 33 minutes of action. Recommendation: Arenas has now scored in single digits for two consecutive games, totaling 15 points on 7-for-18 shooting from the field with zero treys and only one free throw attempt. Arenas is really struggling right now to balance his scoring instincts with the unselfish facilitator role that Coach Flip Saunders needs him to assume for the good of the team. |

G Gilbert Arenas has posted season lows in scoring in his last two games, scoring nine and six points, respectively.
The Wizards have to be at least a little concerned that their superstar is possibly not the same player he was prior to three knee surgeries.
He has exceeded 30 points just once this season. In late stretches at the end of games, new coach Flip Saunders has on more than one occasion opted to go with other players at the point late in games. He clearly hasn't regained the explosiveness that once characterized his game. And in the team's last two games he has twice in a row posted season lows in scoring.
The Wizards maintain that Arenas still isn't near his peak, and that he might not reach it for some time, but there are others who believe that the player who once sparked so much hope for the future is a thing of the past. |
