Suns Targeted Two Other Names in Coaching Search
The dust has now settled on the Phoenix Suns' hiring of Mike Budenholzer, but the organization may have taken a different route if a handful of other names were available according to Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro. "Mike Budenholzer's the guy that can have success in a regular season but then also have what it takes to make the adjustments necessary to help this team - we all know the adjustment he made by putting Giannis at center against the Suns in the NBA Finals and how that turned the tide of that series when the Suns were up 2-0," said Gambadoro.

Since his playing days with the Detroit Pistons, Chauncey Billups has transitioned to a role in coaching. Roughly six years after his second and final stint with Detroit, Billups joined the Los Angeles Clippers bench in 2020. All it took was one season as an assistant before Billups earned himself a seat in the boss's chair. When the Portland Trail Blazers cut the coord on the Terry Stotts tenure, Billups took over.

Blazers lose key assistant coach
The Portland Trail Blazers suffered a departure from their coaching staff this weekend, when it was reported that assistant coach Steve Hetzel would be joining Jordi Fernandez's new Brooklyn Nets coaching staff as an assistant, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Hetzel had been with the Blazers for the last three seasons.
