Thomas sat out the second half of the Mavs' game on Friday with a sore lower back but has taken part in warmups and will try to play Saturday, the Dallas News reports. Recommendation: Thomas missed the first 11 games while recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery but has quickly carved out a productive role off the bench. |

F Tim Thomas has made his money and played a much bigger role on teams in the past. That doesn't mean he isn't vital to Dallas' success this season.
The 6-foot-10 sharpshooter broke out Wednesday at Houston, scoring 23 points off the bench. Thomas can play along the frontline, and since he's deadly behind the arc, fits into the offense well when Dirk Nowitzki isn't in the game.
"The main thing was to come in and help these guys get over the hump," Thomas said. "They're going to be in the playoffs. That's no question, but to try to put a team together that will make a run for a couple years, that's the key." |

Thomas had a season-high 23 points and the Dallas Mavericks shot 65.5 percent in a 130-99 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. Advice: Thomas only made his season debut a week ago after offseason knee surgery. He hit 9 of 13 shots, including four 3-pointers, in Houston. "Tim played great,'' Carlisle said. "He brings a playoff mentality to our team, that's evident. He's worked hard to get back to this point, and we're just going to keep bringing him along.'' |
