Ranger Suarez leads surging Phillies into clash vs. slumping Giants

In what perhaps was an expected announcement from Major League Baseball, Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez was named the National League Pitcher of the Month for March/April. Suarez will look to build on his early-season success when the Phillies continue their four-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants on Saturday evening. Philadelphia (22-11) improved to a season-best 11 games over .500 with a 4-3 victory on Friday, while San Francisco lost for the third time in four games. Suarez (5-0, 1.32 ERA) has won his last five outings, including a 5-1 victory over the San Diego Padres last Saturday.
