Lost in all of the emotions the Dodgers are reported to be feeling about A.J. Ellis leaving is the fact that Ruiz was one of the most beloved Phillies players ever, by both his teammates and their fans. Yesterday Roy Halladay penned a heartfelt goodbye to Ruiz, suggesting that he was every bit as essential to his and the Phillies’ success as Ellis has been to Clayton Kershaw (and in pure baseball production, obviously, quite more).

    Taiwan Heritage Day this Sunday at Citi Field

    Taiwan Tourism Bureau and the New York Mets will host the 12th annual Taiwan Heritage Day on Sunday, August 28 at Citi Field when the Mets host the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:10 p.m.   Pre-game performances start at noon in the Mets plaza as free Taiwanese souvenirs and traditional snacks will be given out next to the stage. People can also experience Taiwanese folkgame at Taiwan's booth near the main entrance. The Chun-Qing Choir, made up of retirees who dedicate their efforts to promote the Taiwanese cultural performing arts, tour around the world and have also performed in schools, hospitals, nursing homes and correction centers throughout Taiwan.
