A Red Sox pitching prospect who is off to a dominant start in 2024 is on the move. According to multiple major league sources, righthander Luis Perales — ranked the No. 9 prospect in the Red Sox system by Baseball America — will head to Portland from High A Greenville (S.C.). In his most recent start on Tuesday, Perales struck out 12 in five shutout innings while allowing just one hit and eliciting 25 swings-and-misses – a performance that suggested he was overwhelming Sally League hitters, pointing to the need for a promotion. For the season, he has a 40 percent strikeout rate – seventh-highest among minor leaguers who have thrown at least 25 innings.
