OF/1B Conor Jackson was sparkling for Escogido of the Dominican winter league, hitting .350 with four doubles, a home run and 10 RBIs in his first 13 games. He led the team and was tied for second in the league in RBIs and was third with a 1.043 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. He also led the league with six stolen bases. Perhaps most encouraging to the D-backs is that his strength and conditioning seemed to be holding. Jackson missed the final five months of the regular season with "valley fever" and was forced to discontinue a rehab assignment in August when he wore down. |

Jackson (Valley Fever) has gone 14-for-40 (.350) with a homer, 10 RBI and six stolen bases through 13 games in the Dominican Winter League this season. Recommendation: He appears to be re-energized after struggling with fatigue throughout the 2009 while trying to get back from the DL in a battle with Valley Fever. As it stands now, the D-Backs need to shuffle some players off of their 40-man roster if they're going to tender Jackson a contract for 2010 and keep him in their plans. If he's a healthy again, Jackson could be a nice low-cost value for a team in need of a productive bat in their outfield next season. |
