Bay officially filed for free agency, the Boston Globe reports.
Recommendation: Bay and Matt Holliday are arguably the top position players on the free agent market, so Bay will find many suitors. However, he may also be Boston's top priority this winter.

LF Jason Bay said that he still hasn't made up his mind up as to what the most important criteria will be for an ultimate landing spot as he prepares to enter free agency for the first time. The 31-year-old slugger bashed a career-high 36 home runs for the Red Sox last season, and he didn't come to an agreement on an extension with the team after discussing potential deals during spring training and the All-Star break.
