Jun 29 Johnson bounced back from his missed cut in the U.S. Open by posting four rounds in the 60s and finishing solo 18th last week in the Travelers Championship. It was a nice bounce-back after he failed to break 70 in his previous six rounds over the last two tournaments. He said he had no extra expectations going in other than to play well and make the cut after failing to make it to the weekend in his last appearance at TPC River Highlands two years ago and being forced to withdraw right before the start of the tournament last year because of a wrist injury. Johnson had a chance to sharpen his game early in the week, when he teamed with Nick Watney to tie for fourth in the CVS Caremark Charity Classic hosted by Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon not far away in Rhode Island. That carried over to the Travelers, where he hit in the neighborhood of 80 percent of the fairways and greens in addition to averaging 28.3 putts per round. He just could not go quite as low as winner Kenny Perry, who joined Johnson as one of six double winners on the PGA Tour this season, and the other leaders. But he registered his ninth finish in the top 25 this season, including his victories at the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Valero Texas Open.
