    Ireland says UK's Rwanda policy drives migrants over its border

    The threat of deportation to Rwanda is causing migrants to head for Ireland instead of staying in Britain, Ireland's deputy prime minister told a British newspaper on Friday. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's flagship programme to send asylum seekers to Rwanda if they arrive in Britain illegally was approved by parliament earlier this week and the government wants the first flights to take off in 10-12 weeks.

    FOREX-Japan's yen hits fresh 34-year low after BOJ keeps rates steady

    The yen eased to its weakest level in three decades against the U.S. dollar after the Bank of Japan kept interest rates on hold on Friday, leaving markets on edge about possible intervention, especially if hot U.S. inflation data pushes up the dollar. After a two-day meeting, the Bank of Japan left its short-term interest rate target at 0-0.1% and made small upward adjustments in its inflation forecast. BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda said the weak yen so far has not had a big impact on the inflation trend.
