Next Match: at home to Siena, January 27 It proved to be an unhappy evening for Udinese head coach Francesco Guidolin as he marked 500 games as a Serie A manager, but the veteran tactician is feeling a great sense of pride nonetheless. The Zebrette returned from the Juventus Stadium on the back of a 4-0 defeat, the Friulians' first reverse in seven outings. Guidolin may well consider moving on at the end of the season, saying: "None of my ex-colleagues would have imagined that I would go this far. To have come so far gives me a great feeling and doing it while in charge of Udinese gives me great satisfaction. I love my job but I suffer a lot for it. We'll see what happens at the end of the season when I speak to the club." When asked to name the most effective player he has worked with in his long career, it did not take him long to come up with an answer. "Antonio Di Natale," he said. "He is a striker who wins games and solves problems. The most decisive striker I have ever met in my career." The prolific hitman faces a fitness test before Siena arrive at the Stadio Friuli, but he should feature, unlike Diego Fabbrini, Zeljko Brkic, Mehdi Benatio and Emmanuel Badu. The first two are sidelined through injury while Benatia and Badu ply their trade at the African Nations Cup. Udinese have enjoyed complete dominance of this fixture since November 2006, winning five straight home games against the Tuscans, a run that most recently saw Di Natale score the decider in a 2-1 victory back in November 2011. |
